Birding Tring Reservoirs: Early evening update

Early evening update

This morning there was little 'new' in at the Reservoirs: I had a pair of EURASIAN CURLEW over Startop's, plus 2 YELLOW WAGTAILS, quite a few WILLOW WARBLERS and an increase to 22 Common Terns.

Peter Brazier had a single WESTERN REED WARBLER whilst others had a calling COMMON CUCKOO

After receiving news of ARCTIC TERN arrivals, I returned this evening with Graham Smith, Peter Brazier, Mike Campbell and others and after photographing all of the terns present on Startop's and Marsworth was confident in identifying at least 4 ARCTIC TERNS, some still in transitional plumage (images will be uploaded later)

Other birders then came down to twitch the terns, Steve Rodwell picking out a male BLUE-HEADED WAGTAIL in the sheepfield

There has been a widespread arrival of ARCTIC TERNS all over the Region today, including 32 on Staines Reservoirs - quite surprising in such a strong SSW wind

On the Hills today, still 2 RING OUZELS at Ivinghoe Beacon - in scrub along the northern side of the summit

Quainton Hills today produced Black Redstart, Common Redstart and Whinchat, whilst Mike Wallen's Rowsham site yielded Common Redstart and Whinchat first thing
